About Kiana
From Harvey, LA — to the rooms where policy gets made.
Kiana Calloway is a human rights activist, community organizer, author, and award-winning filmmaker rooted in Louisiana criminal justice reform. As a wrongfully convicted survivor of long-term solitary confinement, he brings a perspective no textbook can teach — and pairs it with the rigor of a researcher.
He serves as Research Coordinator at the Jesuit Social Research Institute at Loyola University New Orleans, President of the Impacted Solitary Survivors Council, and Founder & Executive Director of Project Detour. He is completing a Bachelor of Applied Science in Criminology and Justice at Loyola.
